NWO Domain Applied and Engineering Sciences (AES) is committed to promoting technical scientific research that yields applications and impact for people and society. For the period 2019-2022, AES focuses on the following three points: a strengthened applied engineering sciences foundation, efficient innovation chains and visible societal impact. Innovation which impacts the economy and society often requires a large-scale approach. AES Perspectief therefore encourages the establishment of new lines of research, the transcending of old networks and the creation of a close collaboration between scientists and the business community, in order to solve innovation bottlenecks in a multidisciplinary approach. Researchers and users are encouraged to propose new, challenging research programs in the field of applied and engineering sciences that generate economic and societal impact on topics relevant for the Netherlands.
