The Netherlands and Vietnam intensify cooperation in space

On 30 March 2016 the Netherlands Space Office and the Vietnam National Satellite Center (VNSC)  signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Hanoi. The MoU was signed by NSO director Mr Ger Nieuwpoort and Assoc Prof Dr Pham Anh Tuan, in the presence of the Dutch minister of Infrastructure and the Environment Ms Melanie Schultz van Haegen.

Being  one of the largest rice and coffee producers in the world, the availability of water as well as water quality are of great importance to Vietnam. The cooperation between The Netherlands and Vietnam focuses on sharing knowledge on the application of earth observation data for water management and agricultural monitoring. NSO and VNSC will investigate the development of joint information services for Vietnam, by analogy with the G4AW Sat4Rice project (funded by NSO) which develops information services for rice farmers in the Mekong Delta.
