Space activities in the Netherlands comprise a broad spectrum of scientific endeavours, the use of space missions and the development of industrial products. Since the 1970s, Dutch companies and institutes have been actively involved in the programmes of ESRO, ESA, NASA and other international organisations.
The Netherlands is a world leader in the fields of astrophysics and atmospheric research and participates in various international projects in these domains (ESA and non-ESA).
The industrial activities are focused on priority areas such as solar arrays, instruments for science and remote sensing, structures for launchers and propulsion components. Besides this industrial dimension, the use of the space infrastructure for our society is also a very important aspect of Dutch space policy.
