General
As a supplier of complex precision mechanical components, Uitgeest Mechanische Industrie BV (UMI) has been active in the branch for more than 25 years. Our company specialises in manufacturing high-quality parts and assemblies that are used in numerous sectors, including space travel, aviation, medicine, mechatronics and general machine and equipment construction. By tailoring the wishes of our customers to the possibilities offered by UMI and the technology, we can always offer a suitable and innovative solution. In addition to a group of very motivated and experienced professionals, UMI has a modern, completely computer-controlled range of machines and an excellently equipped measuring room. It is in particular this combination of customer focus, professional skills, technology and quality which ensures that UMI should be considered to be not so much a manufacturer, but rather a partner.
Space activities
As long as UMI is machining metals, we do business with the Dutch Space Industry, well know as Dutch Space from Leiden. In the past years UMI produced a lot of complex parts, used for ground support equipment and "flight" hardware as well. For example, UMI produced the mechanical parts for the Very Large Telescope lines (VLT) as build on a mountain in Chile, the Biopack experiment, as launched with a Space Shuttle. We also are involved in the production for parts for Thermal Knives, that will be used for unfolding Solar Array Panels in the Galileo project (the European GPS satellites).
