General
Cosine is a contract research company devoted to developing solutions for problems with a high scientific and technological profile. The company is active in the study of advanced instruments, the development of data analysis systems and simulators, the design of optical systems, and it provides its customers with project management services for information technology and research projects. It is active in the space sciences and other sectors in research and industry. Cosine has its own laboratory and clean room facilities, and with a keen staff of physicists and engineers, it is able to carry out research programs for its clients to find solutions to present-day scientific and technological challenges.
Space activities
Cosine supported organisations as ESA and industries and institutes such as Dutch Space as TNO with contract research, specification of scientific instruments, data analysis systems, science simulation, advanced optical systems and many others. Cosine has designed several instruments for e.g. remote sensing and planetary applications. The knowledge covers a variety of spectral ranges. Apart from Gamma-ray and X-ray optical designs which make use of sophisticated programs such as GEANT and self-developed ray-traycing programs, Cosine is using ZEMAX for visible, near IR and far IR applications. Cosine was and is involved in several programmes e.g. ISO, Herschel and XEUS.
